Irene Maria Ganser

Irene Maria Ganser is an Austrian artist and designer based in Vienna, known for her sculptural objects that bring together nature, material, and craftsmanship. After studying design and fashion in Paris and completing her Master’s degree in Fashion Design at the Marangoni Institute in Milan, she went on to study interior design at the Politecnico di Milano. Her early work at the renowned Milanese creative space Corso Como 10, founded by artist Kris Ruhs, marked the beginning of her deep engagement with metalwork, sculpture and installation.
Inspired by nature, the passage of time and the traces left by use, Ganser transforms materials such as brass, bronze, wood and recycled aluminium into distinctive sculptural forms. Her work is characterised by a strong tactile quality and a refined interplay of contrasts — smooth and rough, matt and glossy, light and dark. Found and historic materials often become the starting point for her designs, allowing their stories and imperfections to remain part of the finished piece.
Her work has been presented at international design fairs and exhibitions and featured in leading architectural and design publications. Her pieces have been acquired by institutions and renowned brands, including Christian Dior Couture, while her designs have been selected for the Austrian Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai.
